CONDAR Project Descriptions/Types
As a matter of corporate policy, we never publicly
link a project with a client without express permission.
Situation/Needs
Analysis and Strategic Planning
For dozens of public
and private sector organizations, CONDAR has reviewed the client’s IM
program and practices and made recommendations for improvements, revisions,
and enhancements. This is a core part
of our business and, having seen similar problems many times, it facilitates
our ability to ‘spot the problem’ and – more importantly
– to know what may mitigate any problems. Once the good and bad things about the
existing practices are identified to the client, the second stage of many of
these projects has been to develop a plan to correct any deviations from best
practices, to set a timetable for modernizing their IM program, and to ensure
that sufficient, trained resources are in place to ensure success.
Classification
Structure Design
We have developed
over 150 classification systems for private sector clients, government at all
levels, and non-profits. These can be
function/activity-based, block numeric or hybrid structures; what is
important is not the theory behind the classification model, or what the latest
trend is, but ensuring that the structure will meet the operational and legal
requirements of the client.
CONDAR’s classification schemes work with all media, and can be
developed in a matter of weeks for most clients, not months or years.
Classification
and Retention Scheduling
For over 100
clients, we have researched and produced retention and disposition schedule
that meet the operational and legal requirements of the organization
(including citation tables). Our
experience in many industries helps accelerate the development time for these
schedules.
Shared
Drive Restructuring and Workflow Analysis
Shared network
drives are the unsung heroes of information management. While they do have their shortcomings,
using a network drive properly – organization/structure of folders,
naming conventions, standards, and removal of inactive information on a
timely basis – can result in huge productivity savings for clients at a
fraction of the cost of acquiring advanced EDMS software. A good, well-used shared drive is also a
stepping stone to EDMS/EDRMS, making the implementation – when it is
justified – easier and less stressful for all involved.
File
Management System
For
several federal government departments and agencies, developed or modified
correspondence tracking systems into electronic document management systems,
allowing for a virtually paperless environment.
